Why Sea Buckthorn Deserves a Place in Your Skincare Ritual
There’s something empowering about making your own skincare. You gain full control over the ingredients, the scent, and the purpose—whether you’re looking to nourish dry skin, protect against the elements, or simply take a more mindful, sustainable approach to self-care. For me, it all started with a desire to create products that were both gentle and effective—using ingredients I could trust and tailor to my skin’s changing needs.
That journey led to the creation of three simple yet versatile recipes that now anchor my home apothecary:
✨ A light, fast-absorbing lotion for everyday hydration
🧡 A rich, reparative balm for dry or damaged skin
🌞 A refreshing after-sun gel for cooling and soothing relief
Healing Sea Buckthorn Lotion – Balm – After-Sun Gel
Everyday Hydration, Deep Repair & Soothing Relief
These formulas are easy to make in small batches, satisfying to customize, and made with ingredients chosen for their long history of healing and harmony with the skin.
Essential oils are more than just aromatic additions—they’ve been used in traditional medicine and skin care rituals across cultures for thousands of years. From calming lavender to clarifying tea tree and soothing chamomile, they offer a range of topical benefits that work synergistically with nutrient-dense oils like sea buckthorn seed oil—the star of each of these recipes.
Sea buckthorn seed oil is lightweight, golden, and rich in skin-supportive omega fatty acids and vitamin E. It’s known for its calming, regenerative qualities, making it especially helpful for sensitive, inflamed, or weather-worn skin. In all three recipes, it serves as both a therapeutic base and a nourishing active ingredient.
Whether you’re new to DIY skincare or looking to deepen your home ritual, these recipes are designed to be flexible, approachable, and effective. Each one invites you to experiment with scent, texture, and purpose—while giving your skin the clean, restorative care it deserves.
When to use it: after a shower, on hands and feet, or anywhere that needs daily hydration with a side of anti-fungal support.
👉 Bonus: These base recipes are incredibly easy to customize depending on your skincare goals or scent preferences.

Notes
✏️ Additional Notes
- Oil Type: This recipe uses sea buckthorn seed oil, which is rich in colour and nutrients. It may lightly tint the lotion and skin temporarily—this is normal and fades quickly.

- For brightening & circulation → grapefruit + frankincense
- For fungal-prone areas (like feet) → tea tree + eucalyptus
- Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place, and always use clean fingers or a spatula to avoid contamination.
- Shelf Life: Up to 6 months, depending on freshness of ingredients.
